چکیده

High Order Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) is a high-bandwidth-efficient modulation scheme employed in the wireless communications. For this type of modulation, one of the most important problems is carrier recovery to allow a coherent demodulation. To extract correctly the transmitted symbols as the carrier frequency offset between the transmitter and receiver is inevitable, the receiver must to provide blind fast carrier frequency synchronization. In order to track the frequency of the received signal, the receiver uses commonly a PhaseLocked-Loop (PLL) technique. An alternative to PLL carrier recovery is the use of Kalman filter algorithms.

Kalman Filtering Applied to Carrier Recovery of High- Order Qam Signals

A carrier synchronization algorithm for high-order QAM modulated signals that uses Kalman filtering techniques shows fast acquisition times and good frequency tracking performances. The algorithm relies on a decision directed extended Kalman filter combined with a lock detector which determines the status of the synchronization process, modifying consequently the filter parameters. Simulations ...

On-Line Nonlinear Dynamic Data Reconciliation Using Extended Kalman Filtering: Application to a Distillation Column and a CSTR

Extended Kalman Filtering (EKF) is a nonlinear dynamic data reconciliation (NDDR) method. One of its main advantages is its suitability for on-line applications. This paper presents an on-line NDDR method using EKF. It is implemented for two case studies, temperature measurements of a distillation column and concentration measurements of a CSTR. In each time step, random numbers with zero m...

Joint oversampled carrier and time-delay synchronization in digital communications with large excess bandwidth

This paper deals with the joint estimation of the pair dynamical carrier phase/Doppler shift and the time-delay, in a digital receiver. We consider a Binary Offset Carrier shaping function as used in satellite positioning, which is a time-limited pulse with a large excess bandwidth, and a Data Aided synchronization scenario, where we have a constant time-delay and a Brownian phase evolution wit...

Synchronization through Extended Kalman Filtering

We study the synchronization problem in discrete-time via an extended Kalman filter (EKF). That is, synchronization is obtained of transmitter and receiver dynamics in case the receiver is given via an extended Kalman filter that is driven by a noisy drive signal from the transmitter. Extensive computer simulations show that the filter is indeed suitable for synchronization of (noisy) chaotic t...

A Non-Pilot Aided Iterative Carrier Frequency Offset Estimator Using Optimal Filtering for an Interleaved OFDMA Uplink System

In an uplink transmission of a coded orthogonal frequency division multiple access (C-OFDMA) system, channel estimation, time and frequency synchronization has to be addressed. For this purpose a control data, i.e. a known training sequence called “preamble” and pilot sub-carriers are used. As an alternative to the classic scheme and in order to maximize the data rate, we propose a non-pilot ai...
